BALLOON ADVENTURES FLIGHT GUIDLINES.

Pre-Flight

• The balloon system will be laid out and rigged. You may be asked to help in which case there will be further instructions.
• A large fan is used for ‘cold inflation’. Please stay clear of the fan(s), it can be very dangerous. E.g. Articles of clothing and debris can get sucked into the fan(s). Debris going through the fan can damage the balloon or be expelled from the fan in an unpredictable way.
• Be careful around the tie down line connecting the basket to the chase vehicle.
• Once the balloon and basket are upright, the pilot will call the passengers to climb aboard. Once in the basket, the pilot will direct you where to stand during the launch. The pilot needs full visibility. Once the balloon is safely aloft, passengers may reposition for the best view.
• The basket may rock back and forth. This is natural once the balloon is inflated, especially if there is some ground wind. If this occurs, hold onto the handles or the upper structure. The pilot will continuously ignite the burners until the balloon reaches the proper temperature for launch. You WILL experience radiant heat from the burner. For this reason, we recommend that you wear a tight fitting hat (like a baseball hat).

• You will spend the first 10-15 minutes becoming accustomed to the feel of the balloon. You may stand anywhere in the basket during flight.
• If we are a few hundred feet above the ground (low flying), be watchful for hazards. Report any power lines and poles, towers or anything you have a concern about to the pilot.
• RELAX and enjoy the flight. THIS IS A FUN TIME! We encourage cameras (strapped to your wrist or neck).

• High wind landing – If the winds pick up, the basket my tip over on its side and drag during the landing. Just stay in the basket and hold on. DO NOT JUMP OUT OF THE BASKET.
• You will be informed of the pilot’s intentions regarding the type and location of landing. The landing could be feather soft to bumpy and very much is dependant upon the wind conditions during landing.
• While landing, face in the direction of the landing. BEND your knees so you can absorb the impact of the landing. Do not stiffen up.
• Keep ALL body parts inside the basket and hold on to the handles or the upper structure.
• The basket may touch the ground more than one time before it comes to a final stop. If this is the case, prepare yourself to catch your body from lunging forward.
• DO NOT GET OUT OF THE BASKET UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO BY THE PILOT. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR YOUR SAFETY AS WELL AS THE SAFETY OF THE OTHER PASSENGERS ON BOARD

ARRIVAL TIMES

• Arrival times depend on the sunrise and sunset times. You can check sunruse and sunset times here . Arrival is scheduled at least 1 hour before sunrise or 2-2.5 hours before sunset.

WAIVER, RELEASE and HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT

I ________________ _________________, the undersigned do hereby voluntarily agree to become a passenger in a hot air balloon owned and/or operated by Balloon Adventures. I am aware of no mental or physical disorders that would place me at risk during my flight.

I agree to comply with and follow explicitly the directions of instructions of the pilot at all times.

I further agree that I will indemnify, save and hold harmless Balloon Adventures and any of its employees or persons operating and/or crewing on said hot air balloon from any and all losses, claims, actions or proceedings for any injuries to persons, or injurious results or damages to property, suffered during the flying of said hot air balloon or while said hot air balloon is on the ground. This agreement extends to any form of transportation to and/or from launch and landing locations of said hot air balloon in any vehicle owned/operated by Balloon Adventures.

In voluntarily agreeing to participate in a hot air balloon ride under this Agreement, I understand that this Agreement extends to any personal injuries, injurious results, damages or losses which I, myself, or any member of my family may experience or sustain while riding said hot air balloon or while doing anything incidentally thereto. I covenant for myself, my estate executor, heirs and assigns, and for any of my minor children which ride in said hot air balloon, their estates’ executors, heirs and assigns, neither to file suit nor to initiate claim procedure in respect to any personal injuries, property damages or losses or I or my children may experience or sustain arising directly or indirectly out of riding said hot air balloon or doing anything incidental thereto.

I freely assume all risks, hazards and losses, which may befall me in connection with my hot air balloon ride. I acknowledge that I am fully aware that riding said hot air balloon and doing anything incidental thereto is potentially dangerous and mar result in personal injury or property injury to myself and/or children. I have entered into this Agreement freely and voluntarily without any inducement, promises, or representations being made by Balloon Adventures, its employees, or persons operating or crewing for said hot air balloon to the safety of the hot air balloon or otherwise. This agreement must be signed in the presence of a Balloon Adventures pilot or representative.
